This week I have harvested swiss chard for two dinners, a small cabbage and two different bunches of forsythia. The flowers were from the side of the road and don't really belong to anyone. The cabbage sprouted from vegetable trimmings (from a dinner months and months ago) that I buried on the side of the house as an experiment in composting. The chard I did plant (as seeds) but neglected all summer, fall and winter.

what a nice surprise !
How fun! Last year we had Butternut squash grown from my composting experiment. It was a great surprise and I really should grow more. I love Swiss Chard. I need to learn to fall/winter garden. Though mine was still producing last month, it is now covered in snow.
